According to the NCFR founder, Stan Sitzmann, "Each year we receive many wonderful gifts and toys that have been donated for this event."
Sitzmann, along with many area volunteers, collects donated items from area merchants and many citizens from around Cherokee County to auction off to raise money for more than 150 children in Cherokee County who receive a complete outfit of clothing.
Another part of this annual fundraiser has been the selling of chances for a raffle. Prizes will be given out on Saturday. First prize is $300 in groceries, second prize is $100 in cash, and third prize is $50 in cash. The Groceries certificate is redeemable at either Fareway or Hy-Vee.
Rounding out the fundraiser will be a free bean and chili lunch, which will be served from 11 a.m. to noon, with the auction starting at 1 p.m.
Sitzmann also commented "I would like to thank all the people who helped sell tickets and the churches that did their share of giving and anyone who helped make this fundraiser for the children a success. Also I would like to thank the merchants who helped make the auction a success and thanks to Escue, Pritts and O'Bryan Auctioneers."
