Latest Iowa Girls H.S. Rankings released

Cherokee will be site of Regional Track in May

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has released their latest rankings in basketball.

In Class 1A, North Butler (6-0) is rated number one, followed by

Martensdale St. Mary's (8-0), Mason City Newman Catholic (6-0),

Newell-Fonda (6-0), Exira (6-0), North Sentral Kossuth (7-0), Stanton (6-0), Des Moines Christian (3-1), North Mahaska (7-0), Northeast Hamilton

(7-0), Lynnville-Sully (7-1), Mount Ayr (7-0), Akron-Westfield (3-3), Preston (5-1) and Midland (5-1).

In Class 2A, Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove, coached by Aurelia native Pat Miller, is rated number one with their 7-0 mark, followed by Cascade (3-1), Manson-Northwest Webster (5-1), Denver (5-0), Central Lyon (7-0), Hinton (6-0), Albia (5-0), Panorama (4-1), Solon (5-0), Mount Vernon (5-1). Camanche (5-1), Kuemper Catholic (4-0), MFL-Mar-Mac (5-1), IKM-Manning (5-3) and Logan-Magnolia (5-0).

In other IGHSAU news, Cherokee has been selected as a site for one of the Class 2A Regional Track and Field Meets next spring. The meet will be held on Friday May 14.
