Touring Cherokee

Monday, December 21, 2009

(Photo)
On Friday, business students from Sioux Central High School in Sioux Rapids came to Cherokee to tour several of the town's many small businesses. Pictured above is Kim Barrett, right, co-owner of Quilt-n-Kaboodle, who gave the students a demonstration of how her store's long-arm sewing machine works. While on their tour of downtown Cherokee, the students learned some of the basic business lessons such as marketing, research, business incentives and advertising. It is the hope that someday these students will be able to duplicate what Cherokee has been doing in finding and creating small business for Iowa's smaller communities. Photo by Mike Leckband
