The very important phrase "Shop At Home" was very well taken by John Barnes of Cherokee during the recent National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nev. earlier this month.
John Barnes of Barnes/MJM PRCA Rodeos, who serves as Arena Director and Assistant Livestock Superintendent at the NFR, arranged the services of several Cherokee businesses to help in the production of the world-famous Benny Binion Bucking Horse & Bull Sale in conjunction with the NFR.
Those able Cherokeans involved at the request of Barnes were Blaine and Donna Burkhardt of Burkhardt & Dawson Certified Public Accountants, Mick Samsel of Creative Services, and the Cherokee State Bank.
Donna Burkhart was the Binion Sale clerk and took the money in and paid it out, with more than $800,000 of sale proceeds deposited in the Cherokee State Bank, from which the checks were written and sellers paid. Samsel created the back tag numbers for the livestock sale.
The Binion Sale will be aired on "In Country TV" in the first part of January.
