Loughlin, a Cherokee Washington High graduate and three-time State Wrestling Tournament qualifier as a prep, guided the 12th-ranked Rams to a third-place finish in the 10-team field.

Loughlin, the son of Jay and Mollie Loughlin of Cherokee, validated his #1 seed in the tournament and stretched his team-high winning streak to nine matches. He currently sports a sparkling 15-2 record this season.

"Loughlin is really wrestling well and is getting better technically," said Cornell coach Mike Duroe. "He's the toughest, most hard-nosed guy on our team when he competes. He's tough. There's no other way to describe his style. That wins a lot. He's always out to get you, always trying to score."

Loughlin, ranked #7 nationally in his weight class, was named the Iowa Conference Wrestler of the Week for his dominating performance here.

The Rams competed in the Gator Duals in Orlando, Fla. Dec. 20.
