Build a better workforce

Thursday, January 7, 2010

Recently one of the nation's leading providers of occupational performance testing, Occupational Performance Corp., proudly marked a milestone, welcoming the 100,000 client to undergo a Physical Capacity ProfileŽ (PCP) strength assessment and Cherokee Regional Medical Center helped contribute to the milestone.

In 2006, CRMC implemented the pre-employment testing system and offers the testing system to six other surrounding organizations. The PCP test is to help occupational and human resource professionals across the country place employees in the appropriate job to minimize the risk of injury and build better workforces.

With state-of-the-art computerized software, the PCP device rates a potential employee's capabilities and physical skills to a targeted level. Each job is evaluated determining the strength and/or frequency required of its essential functions and placed into one of the five work levels as defined by the Department of Labor (DOL). Research shows that matching an employee's physical strength to his or her job responsibilities can significantly reduce workplace injuries.

If your organization would like to learn more about getting your Physical Capacity Profile Testing done at Cherokee Regional Medical Center, please contact Rita Comstock RN, BSN Occupational Health Department Manager.
