Cherokee Tiel Sanford Museum will begin displaying entries for the 2010 "Beauty of Northwest Iowa" photo contest today.
A estamated 100 pictures from Northwest Iowa will be hanging in the West Gallery of the museum.
The contest is open to both professional and amateur entries and no age limit was set. Entries must be original photos, taken by the entrant. The photos must be 8 x 10 inches in size and all photos are to be loose, no mats, frames allowed.
All photos must be taken in Northwest Iowa and all entries must be suitable for display, no bends, folds, wrinkles, curls or smears.
All photos are to be labeled on the back with title, name, phone number and address. Entries can be rejected for any reason.
Award for first place is $100, second place is $50 and third place is $25.
All perspective contestants completed the pre-register form prior to December 11. All entries were delivered to the Sanford Museum during the week of Dec. 21 through Dec. 30.
All photos will be on display at the Sanford Museum from today to February 12.
On January 23 at 7:30 p.m. there will be a gallery talk from the judges and there will be an artists' reception and awards will be given out at this time. All photos must be picked up at the Museum during the week of February 13.
The Museum will be taking one of two photos that the artist feels demonstrates the beauty of Northwest Iowa.
