MOUNT VERNON - Cornell College sophomore 157-pounder Nicholas Loughlin (Cherokee/Washington) has been named Iowa Conference Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending Jan. 10.

Loughlin went 5-0 in leading the Rams to a seventh-place team finish at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals Saturday and Sunday at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. He picked up two decisions, a pair of major decisions and a pin in running his match winning streak to 16.

Loughlin's weekend was highlighted with a 3-2 victory over fourth-ranked Zach Mizer of Heidelberg.

Loughlin, ranked seventh in the latest NWCA Top 10 Individual Poll, stands 22-2 on the season. His lone blemishes on the mat are against Division I's Jake Kerr of the University of Iowa and Shawn Perry of the University of Wisconsin.

Loughlin leads the Rams in falls (7), decisions (10), first takedowns (20) and team points (93). He is second on the team in wins (22) and total takedowns (58).

This is Loughlin's second conference honor this season. He was also named IIAC Wrestler of the Week Dec. 15.
