In Monday night Western Valley Conference basketball action, the River Valley boys dug a huge hole for themselves in the first half, in the words of their coach, Dean Norris, trailing Woodbury Central by 22 points at halftime.
"We were able to get it back to eight at one point, " said Norris, "but we were not able to get over the hump against a tough Woodbury Central team," losing the game by a final score of 61-50.
Sam Lundt led the Wolverine scoring with 25 points .while Andrew Volkert added 10 points and nine rebounds. Austin Hansen added four assists and Ryan Kettelson had four steals.
Coach Norris said he was "really proud of the way we fought back in the second half to make a game of it. These kids continue to play hard and battle."
With the loss, River Valley's season record falls to 5-4, with three more games scheduled this week - a home contest against Remsen Union Tuesday, followed by road games Thursday at Aurelia and Friday at Westwood.
