Area students named to Dean's List at Morningside

SIOUX CITY - Each semester, the Dean's Honor List at Morningside College recognizes students who achieve a 3.67 or higher grade point average and complete at least 12 credits of course work with no grade below a C- . William C. Deeds, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the college, recently released the fall 2009 Dean's Honor List, and each student recognized received a letter of recognition from Deeds.

Several area students were named to the Dean's Honor List at Morningside for the 2009 fall semester. The students are listed below, in alphabetical order.

Jennifer Bechtel, daughter of Michael and Joyce Bechtel of Cherokee, is a senior majoring in elementary education; Brittany Benson, daughter of Steve and Jean Benson of Cherokee, is a senior majoring in nursing; Ivy Borcherding, daughter of Gary and Anne Borcherding of Cherokee, is a senior majoring in business administration; Shannon Chaffin, daughter of Brian and Teri Chaffin, is a senior majoring in elementary education; Kaylee Johnson, daughter of Kevin and Kari Johnson of Cherokee, is a junior majoring in elementary education; Jeremy Letsche, son of Kenneth and Laura Letsche of Marcus, is a senior majoring in mathematics; James Nitz, son of John Nitz of Cherokee, is a junior who is majoring in general science teaching; Nancy Perrin, daughter of James and Brenda Perrin of Cherokee, is a senior majoring in elementary education and special education; Shannon Schroeder, daughter of Janet Schroeder of Cherokee and Richard Sorensen of Cherokee, is a sophomore who is majoring in Spanish; Amanda Schwarz, daughter of John and Connie Schwarz of Cherokee, is a junior majoring in elementary education; and Michele Witcombe, daughter of Michael and Debra Witcombe of Cherokee, is a junior who is majoring in elememtary education and had a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester.

All of the honored students named above are past graduates of Cherokee Washington High School, with the exception of Jeremy Letsche, who is a past graduate of Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn High School.
