AGHSC finishes 7th at WVC Meet

MOVILLE - The Aurelia/Galva-Holstein/Schaller-Crestland wrestling team competed in the tough Western Valley Conference Wrestling Tournament here on Saturday, and finished in 7th place out of 11 teams. Here are the final team standings:

1 - Logan-Magnolia, 249.0 pts.; 2 - OA-BCIG, 235.5 ; 3 - Woodbury Central, 159.0;

4 - Woodbine, 132.0; 5 - West Monona, 118.5; 6- MV-AO, 117.5 ; 7 - AGHSC, 97.0;

8- Kingsley-Pierson, 80.0; 9 - Westwood,75.0; 10 - Lawton-Bronson, 67.0; 11- West

Harrison, 58.0

The final placings for the AGHSC wrestlers were:

103 - Cody Kell lost by fall to Colby Mauch (MVAO) in :29 to place 6th.

112 - Vance Kreutz lost by fall to Devon Pierce (OA-BCIG) in 3:05 to

place 4th.

119 - Kaleb Young won by fall over Corey Becker (KP) in 5:52 to place


125 -Tylar Hansen went 1-2 and didn't place.

140 - Dru Kenny went 0-2 and didn't place.

152 - Josh Schwanz lost by major decision to Marrick Loftus (LoMa) by

the score of 13-2, to place 2nd.

160 - Taylor Witzel lost by decision, 5-3, to Todd Bottorff (KP) to

place 2nd.

171 - Spencer Synder went 0-2, didn't place.

189 - Adam Spahr went 1-2 , didn't place.

215 - Michael Davidson lost to Ricky Maynard (MVAO) by fall in :25 to

place 6th.

285 - Logan Schafer lost by fall to Jacob LeClair (WM) in 5:16 to

place 2nd.

AGHSC Coach Scott Phelps said, "The kids competed hard and won and lost some close matches againist quality competition. The coaches were happy with the effort and how we defeated some wrestlers who had defeated us earlier in the year, but we still have to work on being consistent and improve some of our technique. "

The Stonecutters will compete in a Western Valley Conference Dual at Holstein on Tuesday againist Woodbine and KP.
