LAURENS - The Aurelia Bulldog basketball squads came to town for two Northwest Conference games against the host Laurens-Marathon Chargers
Tuesday night, but neither game was much of a battle and the Bulldog teams returned home with a couple of losses.
In the opener, the Bulldog girls were on the short end of a 49-32 score. Despite having an off-night shooting, junior Meghan Glawe again had a double-double performance, leading the team in scoring, with 14 points, and rebounding, with 13 caroms. Junior Audrey Winterhof also had an off-night shooting, but was second in team scoring with 10 points and also corralled eight rebounds. Audrey also had three assists, six steals and one blocked shot. Erin Laursen scored eight points and garnered eight boards as well. Gracie Winterhof stole four passes. No individual stats were available for the Charger girls, whose season record evened at 6-6 with the win.
The Bulldog boys scored only five points in the first quarter and six in the second en rote to a 66-33 loss to the Chargers. Freshman Austin Glawe provided most of the offensive spark for Coach Grant Peckenschneider's Bulldog squad, as he scored 20 points on 9 of 13 shooting (including 2-2 from three-point range). Glawe also tied teammate Nick Hirschman for the team lead in rebounds, with both taking six boards. Hirschman also scored seven points and Jacob Howey scored six. No individual stats were available for Laurens-Marathon, now 4-7.
The Bulldog teams host the Alta Cyclone teams Friday night in a Northwest Conference match-up.
