River Valley boys upset WC, 48-45

MOVILLE - The River Valley boys picked up a huge victory over a 10-2 Woodbury Central team here Tuesday night in Western Valley Conference basketball action. "Although we missed some free throws down the stretch and battled foul trouble, we were able to gain the hard - fought victory over a quality opponent," said Wolverine Coach Dean Norris.

Austin Hansen scored 15 and pulled down eight boards for RV, while point guard Sam Lundt hit two clutch free throws. Lundt scored nine points and dished out four assists. Andrew Volkert pulled down 13 rebounds fo the Wolverines and Ryan Kettelson led the team in steals with four. With several players in foul trouble,the team also got some solid minutes from Brody Reidemann, Mark Peterson, and Zak Gander, and Blaine Cullen.

"This was a great team effort," concluded Coach Norris."I am really proud how hard these kids play on the defensive end and find ways to win."

River Valley's season record now stands at 8-5 heading into a Western Valley Conference game against Lawton-Bronson Friday night at Correctionville.
