ORANGE CITY - Andrew Volkert has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College next year.
Volkert is a 6'1", 160-pound quarterback and defensive back who played four years for River Valley High School. He earned first team all-district honors as a defensive back after posting 39 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery. Volkert also gained nearly 450 yards of total offense his senior year.
A member of the National Honor Society, Volkert plans to major in athletic training at Northwestern. He is the son of Brian and Trudie Volkert of Correctionville.
"We are excited to have Andrew join the Red Raider football family," commented head coach Kyle Achterhoff. "His intelligence and experience at playing different positions in high school will help him make the transition to the college game."
