Pilot Rock DAR Chapter would like to invite the public to their Awards program on Sunday, Feb. 6 at the Cherokee Community Center.
This is a program to spotlight area youth and adults. Bob Conley of Cherokee will be receiving a Community Service Award for playing Taps at military funerals for over 65 years. He was recently named to the Bugler Hall of Fame. Nancy Heir of Marcus will be receiving a Community Service Award for all the work she does with he Haiti Mission Team, Grace United Methodist Church, the Marcus Cemetery Walk and securing the Westernaires for the 2008 Marcus Fair.
In addition to the Community Service Awards, we will presenting Good Citizen Awards to area high school seniors and history essay awards to area students in grades 5-8. The D.A.R. members hope that people will come and join them for this special program.
All members are asked to bring three dozen cookies to the meeting. The extra cookies will be distributed to area Veterans in nursing homes.
