Legion Auxiliary notes

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

The American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Cherokee work together to help those in need. Among recent projects were: toiletries and other necessities were packed in homemade bags and brought to the Sioux Falls Veterans Administration Hospital for homeless veterans; Gift boxes were shipped over to Cherokee area troops in Iraq and Afghanistan; and the ladies agreed to donate money and goods to the Hygiene for Haiti fundraiser going on in Orange City at Hands Around the World.

The Cherokee Auxiliary ladies are looking forward to Bingo on Feb. 6th at the old Garfield School gym, with Bingo at 7 pm, including a full concession stand and great prizes. All ages are welcome. Bingo will be held on the first Saturday of every month.

Look for the American Legion men to be out this Spring selling poppies at Cherokee businesses again.

The next American Legion and Auxiliary meeting is Feb. 18 at 515 W. Cedar, Cherokee. Visitors are always welcome.
