Lady Eagles win one, lose one

The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn girls split two recent basketball games, falling 52-41 to West Sioux in Marcus, and beating Granville Spalding 53-49 in Granville.

Kayla Foresman scored 14 points to lead MMC against West Sioux, while Jena Mittlestadt tallied seven, and Erica Dreckman and Rachel McDermott six apiece.

Foresman also led the Eagles on the boards with seven rebound, while Mittlestandt had six, Ashley Schneider five, and Dreckman, Jalyn Dodeden, and Stephanie Specht four apiece. Dreckman led in assists with seven, and Schneider led in steals with three.

MMC sank just 18-73 field goals for a frigid 25 percent, including a 2-14 effort from the three-point arc. The Eagles netted just 1-4 free throws.

Dreckman scored 13 points and Kelsey Sears 10 in the win over Spalding, followed by Foresman eight, Mittlestadt seven, McDermott six, and Doden five.

Doeden led the winners in rebounds with nine, while Foresman had eight, and Dreckman four. Foresman also led her team in steals with eight, and Dreckman managed seven. Dreckman and Mittlestadt had two assists each.

Doeden also had three blocked shots.
