Cherokee State Bank 2010 Stockholders Meeting

Cherokee State Bank held its annual stockholders meeting on Jan. 26. The stockholders re-elected Directors Richard Anderson, Larry Carlson, Richard Cook, Calvin Leonard, Jack Montgomery and Michael Hunter.

Calvin Leonard was re-appointed Chairman of the Board at the organizational director meeting following the stockholders meeting. Leonard has been on the bank Board of Directors since 1986, serving as Chairman since 2004. Leonard farms in Silver Township.

The Board of Directors promoted three officers to the position of Senior Vice President. The officers promoted are Ivan Wiersema, Jim Mohn and Dave Appleby.

Ivan Wiersema graduated from Northwestern College in May of 1970 and began his career at Cherokee State the following month. He became a loan officer in 1971 and has worked at the bank for 40 years this June. Ivan lives near Cherokee with his wife, Darlene. Darlene is a homemaker and former teacher.

Jim Mohn has worked as a loan officer at Cherokee State since 1989, and is also a Senior Trust Officer. He formerly farmed and served as an extension director for ISU Extension. Jim lives near Cherokee with his wife, Connie. Connie is a Vice President of the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee.

Dave Appleby has worked as a loan officer at Cherokee State since 1994. He formerly worked for Farm Credit Services and served in the US Army. Dave lives near Cherokee with his wife, Linda. Linda is a Parent Coordinator/Transition Consultant at the Area Education Agency in the Sioux City office.
