Lady Eagles slam Aurelia girls, 54-24

MARCUS - Erica Dreckman scored a game-high 17 points and her teammate Kayla Foresman tallied 10 to lead the Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn girls to a resounding 54-24 non-conference basketball win over visiting Aurelia here Thursday night.

The Eagles jumped out to a 17-3 lead in the first quarter and led 28-5 at halftime as the Bulldogs could not muster much offense against the tough Eagle defense. MMC took a 47-11 bulge into the fourth quarter to put it away early.

Megan Glawe led the Aurelia girls with 10 points, and Shaina Thevenin chipped in eight, and Erin Laursen four.

Glawe recorded a double-double, also pulling down 15 rebounds, Thevenin led Aurelia in stea,s with six, and Laursen pocketed four.

The Bulldogs made 7-29 field goals for a frigid 24 percent, and converted 9-20 free throws. They were plagued by 37 turnovers.

No statistics were submitted for the MMC girls.

The MMC teams play at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Tuesday night.
