The Little Sioux Spinners & Weavers Guild was organized in 1975 and is open to anyone who has a love of spinning, knitting, sewing or any type of fabric work. Members of the Little Sioux Spinners & Weavers Guild live all over Northwest Iowa, from Spirit Lake to Sac City to Pameroy to Orange City.
Members meet on the first Wednesday of every month, either at the Sanford Museum in Cherokee or Arts on Grand in Spencer. Plus on the third Monday the Guild meets at the home of one of its members.
Every meeting they elect one of their members who is in charge for the day and shows the rest of the group on what technique they should be focusing on. So they are constantly learning from each other and developing new techniques for their craft.
Their love for their work clearly shows in their exhibit at the Museum. The multitude of craft works that is currently hanging on the wall at the Museum is a combined effort of over 20 years in the making.
A few members sell their works but most items go to friends and family. For more information on the Little Sioux Spinners & Weavers Guild contact Arlene Meerdink at 712-728-2059 or email at www.lsswguild.com.
The Sanford Museum will also be keeping on display the Beauty of Northwest Iowa Photo Contest in the West Gallery until the end of February.
