The River Valley boys got off to fast start and maintained a comfortable lead throughout the game, as they rolled past Whiting, 85-40, in Class 1A District Basketball Tournament action on Thursday.
RV's Austin Hansen achieved a career milestone by going over 1,000 points with a 35 point, eight rebound, seven steal, six assist performance, while Andrew Volkert tied a school record with eight steals and also pulled down 12 rebounds. Zak Gander added 14 points, while Ryan Kettelson was also in double figures with 10.
Point guard Sam Lundt dished out six assists for the Wolverines, whose record now stands at 12-9 as they head into the next round of the tournament.
RV will take on Woodbury Central at Correctionville on Tuesday. Whiting ends its season with a 1-20 record.
