David was born Nov. 24, 1922 at Holstein to Henrich and Josephine (Hare) Jensen.He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek.He grew up and attended school in Battle Creek.He was married to Marcia Fleenor in 1941.He was later married to Dolores Tveitnes on April 23, 1948.
He had worked as a farm hand and for the Iowa Department of Transportation for many years, retiring in June of 1985. He had lived in Cherokee from 1946 until 1972, Cleghorn from 1972 until 1990, Washta from 1990 until 2002 and in Quimby since 2003.He enjoyed camping and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Fred Jensen and Russ Woodard, grandson Steven Jensen, step-daughter Ivana Woodard and a brother Vern Jensen.
He is survived by his wife Dolores, and children: Dave (Jane) Jensen of Reading, Kan.; Sandra (Del) Persoon of Storm Lake; Terry Jensen of Topeka, Kansas; Jerrilyn (Dick) Knapp of Quimby; Jerry (Cheryl) Jensen of Sutherland; Dan (Faye) Jensen of Sioux City; Judith Robinson of Des Moines; Joyce Elizabeth Jensen; two daughters-in-law: LaVonne Woodard of Sun City West, Ariz. and Diane Grant of New Brunswick, Canada 27 grandchidlren, 62 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Katherine Palmer of N.C.; Helen (Burdell) Vohs of Battle Creek.
