Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. Pastor Missy Brown officiated. Burial will in the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee. There was a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Visitation was on Monday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Dennis was born Nov. 14, 1950 Cherokee to Floyd and Berniece (Amendt) Stewart. He graduated from Aurelia Community High School in 1969. He then attended Iowa State University. He had worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad, worked construction and farmed on the family farm. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. Dennis enjoyed fishing, sightseeing and science. He had been a resident of Cherokee County most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Berniece.
He is survived by one brother and one sister: Steve Stewart and his wife Priscella of Cherokee; Sherry Stewart of West Des Moines; aunts and uncles: Wayne and Betty Stewart of Larrabee; Gerald and Alberta Dahnke of Hartley; Gen Stewart of Fulda, Minn.; Verniece Larson of Cherokee; also numerous cousins.
