The Sanford Museum Association is sponsoring a program on Saturday at the Sanford Museum "Storytellers of the Prairie" will be presented by Clayton and Linda Layman and Alan Baughman. The program will begin at 7:30 a.m. and is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
The "Storytellers of the Prairie" are three Master Storytellers who have a rich Iowa heritage. For several generations their families have made their homes in Iowa. The stories they tell come from true life experiences and family history. Their tales take you from tears to laughter and leave you sharing your own life stories.
Also the Sanford Museum Association is currently accepting memberships for 2010. Types of memberships are: Contributing-$10, Sustaining-$25, Associate-$50, Patron-$100, Life-$500 and School-$15.
Their membership fees help pay for programs, refreshments, announcements (mailings), special equipment, special projects, previously scholarships, and internship this summer and much more.
The Sanford Museum Association is an organization of volunteers who contribute time and money to enrich the offerings of the Sanford Museum and Planetarium. Working with museum officials, the Association sponsors traveling exhibits, lectures and purchases equipment and books. In the past few years the Association has used the membership proceeds to purchase a telescope, helped with landscaping around the museum and most recently dedicated one year's
memberships to help purchase a gradiometer for the museum's
Although the memberships are appreciated you do not have to be a member to attend the programs. All programs at
the museum are free and open to the public.
