Cornell College sophomore Nicholas Loughlin, left, a graduate of Cherokee Washington High, seeded second at 157 pounds, had his stellar season come to a premature end in the third round of consolations at the recent Division III National Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids. He went 1-2 in his first national tournament appearance, marking his lone losses against Division III competition in more than a full calendar year. Loughlin (33-4) dropped a 4-3 opening-round match to Dan Twito of Merchant Marine. He posted a 12-4 major decision over Carl Breitenstein of Williams, but came up one win short of earning all-America status. Fifth-seeded Jason Adams, pictured here, of National Champion Augsburg College, ended Loughlin's season with a takedown in overtime for a 3-1 sudden victory. Adams (46-5) placed third to help lead Augsburg to the team title. Photo contributed
