Five Cherokee County 4-H'ers were among the 1,000 4-H youth and their families and friends from across Iowa who were part of a sea of green cheering on the Iowa State University women's basketball team Feb. 27.
The Cherokee 4-H'ers participated in the second annual 4-H Day at Cyclone Women's Basketball in Hilton Coliseum in Ames, cheering the Cyclone women to a 48-39 win over Kansas State University.
"We're glad that so many 4-H clubs were able to take advantage of this opportunity to come to Ames, see the Iowa State University campus and, of course, cheer on the Cyclones," said Shelly Greving of the Iowa 4-H Foundation.
The 4-H'ers also participated in a pregame tailgate party at the Scheman Building on the ISU campus. The event featured a pork meal donated by the Iowa Pork Producers Association.
The following Cherokee 4-H'ers participated in the event: Jacob Kindwall, Josie Kindwall, Olivia Dagel, Fran Conley, and Clare Conley.
