Aurelia Winter Sports Banquet

A present from the girls - Aurelia Athletic Director Grant Peckenschneider was surprised by this gift from the Aurelia girls basketball team at Tuesday's Winter Sports Banquet in Aurelia.
Randy Langlitz was presented with the Morris D. Kelley Award "for excellence in public address announcing" at Tuesday's Winter Sports Banquet in Aurelia. Langlitz retired from his volunteer job as Aurelia's football P.A. announcer following the 2008 season, after 25- plus years in the booth.
Aurelia High School held its Winter Sports Banquet at the school on Tuesday night, honoring the Aurelia High School athletes who participated in basketball and track this winter. A special award from the Iowa High School Athletic Association was also presented to Randy Langlitz by Athletic Director Grant Peckenschneider.The award is named in honor of Maurice "Mo" Kelley, long-time publications director of the IHSAA, who retired from that organiztion in 2001. Kelley was the "voice" of the awards programs at state tournaments for 30 years, and Langlitz was the "Voice of the Bulldogs" football team for more than 25 years before he retired after the 2008 season.

Wrestling MVPs - AGHSC Coach Mike Fry (left) announced the winners of the wrestling team awards at Tuesday's Winter Sports Banquet at Aurelia. Kevin Hernandez, second from the right, was named the Junior Varsity MVP, while Taylor Witzel, right, received the same honor for the varsity. Witzel also joined the "100-win Club" for the AGHSC wrestlers. The Aurelia wrestlers will share wrestling with Alta starting next season. Varsity letter winners - These members of the Aurelia High School girls basketball team were awarded varsity letters at Tuesday's Winter Sports Banquet at the Aurelia School.
