Delivering donations to Camp Sunnyside

Every year since 1968, the Pony Express Riders of Iowa have ridden their horses and passed money donated to Easter Seals "relay style." arriving at Easter Seals Camp Sunnyside, located near Des Moines, on the Saturday before Easter. The Pony Express Riders of Iowa have raised over 8.5 million dollars in the past 42 years to benefit Easter Seals' Camp Sunnyside.

Steve VanVliet and the "Sioux County Pony Express" (his two horses) are making the 10-day journey from Sioux County to Des Moines alone this year, and he is making the ride in honor of his grandson Caleb.

VanVliet started out on Wednesday, and he and his trusty steeds moseyed through Cherokee on Thursday, picking up donations at Cherokee State Bank and North Star Community Credit Union as they continued on their way down the trail to Camp Sunnyside.
