Molly Schroeder of The Weeping Willow was recently awarded The New Business Incentive through the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce.

The New Business Incentive Program was designed to entice new business into Cherokee by offering start-up incentives. These incentives are sponsored by existing businesses in the community.

Sponsor businesses are asked to provide incentives such as discounts on goods or services to help the new business get started.

Businesses which currently sponsor the New Business Incentives include: Blaine's Culligan and Sundance Spas, Bomgaars, Burkhardt & Dawson, CPA, Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, Chronicle Times, City of Cherokee, Creative Services Signs and Screen Printing, Darren's Clothing Company, Iowa Telecom, and KCHE Radio.

The New Business Incentive Program began in 2007 as a project of the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce and Cherokee Industrial Corporation. Since that time, more then 10 new Cherokee businesses have taken advantage of the program.

"Every little bit helps when you are starting a new business venture", shares Julie Hering Kent, Executive Director of the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce. "This program allows existing businesses to show their support to the new business and welcome them to the Cherokee community."

If you would like more information about applying for the New Business Incentive or would like to learn how your business can become a sponsor for future recipients, contact the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce at 225-6414
