Scott Gaskill has been serving as the store manager at Hy-Vee Drug Store (218 East Main Street in Cherokee) since January, coming to Cherokee after the departure of former Manager Jason Van Vactor.
Gaskill, a native of Urbandale, has been employed by Hy-Vee for 15 years, the last six months coming at the Hy-Vee food store in Creston.
The family is now residing in a home they have rented on Sumner Street, and Macy is enrolled at Roosevelt Elementary School. The couple hope to find a home to purchase in Cherokee in the future.
Gaskill said he has found the Cherokee community to be a "very friendly town" in a very scenic location. Though he has worked in Creston for five months, he commuted to that job from Urbandale, and he says Cherokee is his first real small-town life, which he sees as a positive thing, stating that Cherokee "has a good, small town feel."
Gaskill said that Kayla Labs, who has been working with him in Creston, will soon be moving to Cherokee also, when she becomes the new Manager of Store Operations at Hy-Vee Drug Store on April 12, 2010.
Aaron DeVos, who has been serving in the latter position, will be transferring to the Cherokee Hy-Vee Distribution Center at that time.
