O'Brien County celebrates Arbor, Earth Days in April

Thursday, April 1, 2010

The month of April brings with it the spirit of planting trees and caring for the outdoors. The O'Brien County Conservation Board is planning two events to help celebrate Arbor Day and Earth Day.

On Thursday, April 8 beginning at 6:30 p.m. "Terrific Trees" will be held at the Prairie Heritage Center. This is another in the series of "Waist High Wonders" events designed for children up to age 10 and their families. Participants will explore the wonders of trees by taking part in activities, a craft and a story.

Another event -- "Plant a Tree Day" -- will also be held at the Prairie Heritage Center on Sunday, April 18 beginning at 1 p.m. This event is for people of all ages. Learn a little about native trees and Arbor Day. You will even be able to take home a native tree seed started in a recycled pot.

Make plans to celebrate trees this month with the O'Brien County Conservation Board. For more information, call 712-295-7200.
