Golf Braves 5th at Spencer invite

SPENCER - The Cherokee Braves placed fifth at Saturday's Spencer Golf Invitational, with Paxton O'Connor leading the way for the Braves with a 76 in the 18-hole competition.

Other scores for Cherokee were Matt Pitts 80, Jake Spindler 81, Brock Benson 86, Adam Pitts 97, and Austin Winchell 97.

Spencer's Jay Monahan was medalist with a 72, and Carroll Kuemper's Tanner Ludwig was runner-up medalist with a 73.

Clear Lake won the team title in the rugged field with a 308, followed by Kuemper 311, Spencer 313, Algona 316, Cherokee 323, Harlan 338, Carroll and Forest City each 345, Le Mars 346, Estherville-LC 350, Humboldt 368, Denison-Schleswig and Webster City each 370, and Spencer JV 383.

Cherokee golfs at Aurelia Friday in a boys triangular also featuring Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn and the host Bulldogs.
