SHELDON - Cherokee freshman sprint and middle distance runner Marc Husman snagged second and third place finishes in his specialties to lead the Cherokee Braves track and field team at Thursday's Sheldon Invitational here.
Husman was second in the 400 meters in a speedy time of 52.11, and clocked 23.85 in the 200 meters for third place in the varsity competition.
Nolan Sampson placed fourth in the high jump with a 5-10 effort, and Brock Campbell was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 43-11 1/2.
Kyle Schuck placed fifth in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 16.55, and was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 18-5 1/2. The Braves 4x100 relay of Sampson, Schuck, Husman, and Lane Peterson was sixth in a time of 47.63.
Dagel placed seventh in the discus with ma throw of 122-3, and Cody Stowater was seventh in the shot put with a 41-4 1/5 effort. The Braves 4x400 relay of Husman, Schuck, Sampson, and Peterson also was seventh in 3:45.5.
Le Mars won the team title with 118.5 points, followed by Sioux Center 100.5, Orange City UNity CHristian 100, Hull Western Christian 90, Okoboji 82.5, South O'Brien 67, Sheldon 60.5, Cherokee 40, and Sibley-Ocheyedan 38.
In JV action, the Cherokee boys won the medley relay in 4:13.06, with Lane Peterson, Jeff Wiemold, Zac Taylor, and Eamon Adamson aboard. Adamson also placed first in the JV 3200 meters in a time of 11:11.49.
The Braves run in the Cherokee Co-ed Relays here Tuesday night.
