Cherokee Letter Carriers hold 16th annual event

The National Association of Letter Carriers is staging its annual "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive Saturday, May 8, and everyone in Cherokee can help. Just put some non-perishable food items in a bag and place it by your mailbox before the mail is delivered, and your letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to the Mid-Sioux Food Pantry.

This is the 16th year that the local mail carriers in Cherokee have participated in this event, and Don Roethler of the Cherokee mail carriers said that if citizens are going to be gone on Saturday, they can feel free to set out their donated items on Friday.

Non-perishable items would include such items as canned meats and fish, canned soups, juice, pasta, vegetables, cereal and rice.

You are asked to please not include items that have expired or items in glass containers.
