SIOUX CITY - Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) will hold its annual WITSTOCK Battle of the Bands May 14 from noon to 10:30 p.m.
The free public event features a day-long music festival and competition. The headliner is Dirty Secret, a cover band from Omaha, Neb. They will perform at 9 p.m., following the competition.
Bands from Siouxland and surrounding area will compete for prizes: first place, $1,000; second place, $750; and third place, $500. The judges will be drawn from WITCC faculty, staff and students.

The Battle of the Bands will take place in the area known as the Comet Crater, a grassy area in front of Building A. In the event of rain the music festival will be held in the Gymnasium, Building B.
Ray's Mid-Bell Music has donated an ESP LTD M50 Electric Guitar to be raffled at the event. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Part of the proceeds will benefit an educational trip to Europe for 37 WITCC students.
WITCC student clubs will host food and beverage concessions; proceeds from the concessions will benefit the clubs. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.
