Camling is Sanford's Artist of the Month

Des Moines area resident Candace Trew Camling is the featured artist invited to the Sanford Museum for the month of May. Camling is a freelance illustrator and designer who specializes in children's art and custom artworks.

Camling graduated as Class Valedictorian in May 2007 from the Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her major in college was Illustration, with a minor in Digital Media. Her career objective is to obtain work in the graphic arts field.

In the past, she has worked for the JW Marriott Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan as a freelance Illustrator, conceptualizing, laying out and illustrating a children's menu with themes of global awareness and logo placement.

Prior to that, Camlling worked for Service Reproduction Company in Grand Rapids as a salesperson and Graphic Artist, and for American Greetings in Cleveland as a Creative Card Planning intern, working alongside project managers and art directors to create innovative card designs for production.

She has won numerous awards and has had several of her paintings exhibited at art galleries in the state of Michigan, and this month, you can see her work on display in the East Gallery of the Sanford Museum on East Willow Street in downtown Cherokee.
