May Is Mental Health Month

Friday, May 7, 2010

With increasing economic troubles piled on top of the stress of work and family demands, more and more Americans are suffering. In fact, 58 percent of Americans reported struggling in their lives at the end of 2008, according to the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index. This is an increase of more than 22 million Americans who reported struggling earlier in the year.

During these difficult times Plains Area Mental Health Center wants you to know that there are tools and help available that can buffer the effects of stress and help us cope with the many challenges we face. We offer free confidential screenings for depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bi-polar and post traumatic stress on our website: www.plainsareamentalhealth.org. We also provide professional, confidential outpatient treatment for stress, family and children issues, depression, anxiety and much much more.

The good news is -- we have the knowledge and experience to provide effective treatments to combat the symptoms of mental illness. We have community programs that help people recover more quickly and get back their lives. Good mental health is fundamental to the health and well being of every person and the nation.

Plains Area Mental Health Center is a non profit outpatient clinic that provides Outpatient Counseling, Medication Management, Community Support, Consultation and Education, and Emergency Services. For a free on-line mental health assessment for depression, anxiety, bipolar, eating disorders, alcohol and post traumatic stress disorder log on to www.plainsareamentalhealth.org and click on mental health assessments.
