Have you ever thought about wanting to attend some short, fun classes, but wondered where you'd have the time to fit them in? Lunch time is a great opportunity to fit some learning into your day and have fun while doing it. Learn tips for your yard and garden.
Iowa State University (ISU) Extension in Cherokee County is offering a Learning Luncheon Series. The series consists of workshops with different topics scheduled. The workshops are taught by Field Staff as well as Master Gardeners.
The next workshop, on May 18, is about your lawn and garden. This session will be taught by Duane Kent, one of our local Master Gardeners. Come and join us in an informative discussion about taking care of your lawn, nutrients and soil. Duane will also talk about site selection. Bring your questions and enjoy a light lunch.
Our other scheduled workshop is "Having Fun in the Garden with Found Containers & More" on May 25, with Julie French, a local Master Gardener. Julie has done a previous workshop with us, and everyone who attended learned a lot. Julie will talk about how you can plant in any container, at anytime. She claims the workshop will be a little whimsy and a lot of fun. Julie always has some great ideas and she brings flowers and planters for you to look at. Plan to attend and ask her about her "boot" planter.
The cost for each of the workshops is $5 per person. The fee will cover the cost of a light lunch, which will be provided. Pre-registration is requested. Please call (712) 225-6196 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to pre-register. All workshops will be held at noon at the ISU Extension Office in Cherokee, located at 209 Centennial Dr, Ste. A, Cherokee, IA.
