The City of Cherokee is again sponsoring a City-Wide Clean-up Day. To make this job easier, City employees will assist on Monday, May 17 by picking up in all areas of the city -- provided arrangements are made in advance at City Hall.
The City Council encourages residents to take advantage of this to help you clean up your property. The city departments will pick up anything you need disposed of except landscape waste, large amounts of construction materials, broken concrete, batteries, and other hazardous wastes.
For your articles to be picked up, you must call city hall at 225-5749 no later than Friday, May 14 and tell us what you have for pickup and whether it will be at the curb or alley. Only residents who call in by the deadline will have their items picked up. There will be a fee of $10 each for any type of appliance.
The fee for tire disposal is: car - $2, truck - $4, tractor - $15. Pay all fees at city hall prior to the clean up day. You must have your items at your pickup location by 8 a.m. The City Police Department is issuing nuisance citations this spring.
This is a great chance to get your items hauled away and clean up your property prior to any City citations being issued.
