Northwest Early Childhood Iowa -- NECI (formerly known as NW Iowa Community Empowerment or NICE) has received ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) funds.
These ARRA funds will assist families with child care costs. Funding is for families that have children under the age of 2 and in a QRS Level 3 or higher quality child care. When the child turns 2 years of age they are no longer eligible for the program.
There are two requirements parents must meet in order to receive compensation from NECI -- they are:
Parental need for child care
Family's gross household income. The family's gross household income must be more than 145% and up to 185% of the US Poverty Guidelines. Which means a family of 4 can earn up to $40,793 a year.
Families are responsible for paying for part of their child care costs. This is called a co-payment. The family's co-payment is based on household size, monthly gross income, and the number of children in care. The family pays the co-payment amount directly to the child care provider.
These funds are accessible through June 30, 2011.
