'Go the Distance Day' 2010

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Due to positive responses the last two years, the Cherokee Middle School has chosen to once again participate in "Go the Distance Day" this spring.

Middle School students are going to be to exercising for 30 minutes to promote physical activity by walking on the Middle School track and/or around the neighborhood on Thursday, May 20.

The CMS physical education department wants to promote exercise for students and staff. Many health problems arise from poor nutrition, lack of exercise, and being overweight. "Go the Distance Day" is a great way for everyone in the school district to get involved, and learn that exercise can be simple and fun!

The mission for "Go the Distance Day" is to show Iowa's youth that physical activity can be fun and also make them feel good. Goals are to increase public awareness of youth physical inactivity and to inform the public that physical education programs need to remain in our schools.
