Shannon DeWitt, the owner/operator of Unwind Massage Therapy, said the goal of her business is "to provide several types of massage services to meet (her) clients' needs, in a relaxing environment."
DeWitt, the former Shannon Menke, graduated from Cherokee Washington High School in 1995 and now lives in Cherokee with her husband Jason, who is employed as a computer technician at Tyson Foods, and their two children. Son Derek, 13, is currently a 7th grader at Cherokee Middle School and daughter Rylie, 10, is a 4th grader at Roosevelt Elementary School.
Shannon is a Licensed Massage Therapist who received her training at Bio Chi Institute of Massage Therapy in Sioux City and earned her diploma in Massage and Bodywork Therapy in February of this year.
She opened her business, which is located at 115 East Main Street in Cherokee, next door to the Headlines Salon, on May 3, 2010, and offers the following types of massage services for clients - Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Hot Stone Massage and Chair Massage. The types of massage vary by the techniques used as well as the length of time, which ranges from from 15 minutes up to 90 minutes. The cost of the massage, of course, is also dependent upon those factors. You can call Shannon at 225-1190 for a detailed explanation of all the offered services and prices, or call her and make an appointment. She will also be offering "Save the Ta-Tas" t-shirts for sale, with all sales proceeds going to a non-profit group for cancer research.
Unwind Massage Therapy has two therapy rooms, which include music as part of the relaxed environment. DeWitt also has personal office space as well as a reception and waiting area, which is located near the front entrance.
Unwind Massage Therapy is open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Fridays, and 9 a.m. - noon every other Saturday, with the next Saturday being June 5. Call 225-1190 to arrange an appointment.
