SPENCER - The Cherokee Washington High girls tennis team competed in the State Regionals here last week, with #1 singles player Denise Freed and #1 doubles team Demi Dunn and Amanda Kohn making solid showings despite not advancing in further tournament play.
Freed defeated a Spencer player 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in her first round, and then lost to a Denison-Schleswig player, the #1 seed, 6-0, 6-0 in the second round.
Dunn and Kohn won their first set against Spencer's top doubles team, but ended up losing the hotly contested match 6-1, 5-7, 4-6.

In other action for Cherokee, Sarah Ruehle lost to a Denison-Schleswig player 6-0, 6-1 at #2 singles, and Cherokee's #2 doubles team of Hillary Wilkie and Taylor Meyerhofer lost to a Spirit Lake-Okoboji team 6-0, 6-1.
The WHS girls have finished their 2010 season under first-year coach Tricia Koster.
