Swanson gets students headed in the right direction

Jill Swanson
Jill Swanson is currently the lead teacher at Bright Beginnings Preschool, which is located at 400 N. Roosevelt St. in Cherokee.

Jill grew up in Sutherland, the youngest of the four children (along with Greg, Heather and Kory) of Grace and Gail Swanson. She graduated from South O'Brien High School in 2005, then graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City in May 2009, earning a degree in elementary education, with endorsements in Reading and Early Childhood.

Jill is excited about her first year of teaching at Bright Beginnings, having just completed what she calls "a wonderful year." Next year, Bright Beginnings will we providing education to 3-5 year-olds. They follow the High Scope curriculum, which is based on six different areas of preschool-aged development.

Swanson says that this year she plans to take her students on field trips, learn fun and educational songs, plan events with parents, and engage in "many fun, hands-on learning activities that provide a firm Pre-K foundation" for the youngsters.
