Ridge View girls shut out MNW, 10-0

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

GALVA - The Ridge View Raptors softball team got the season off to a good start here on Thursday night with a 10-0, 5 inning victory over Manson Northwest Webster. Leading the way at the plate for the Raptors was lead-off hitter Brea Slaybaugh. The senior went 3-3 with three runs scored, two RBI, and two stolen bases.

Ridge View coach Scott Phelps said, "The kids came out, were aggressive, and put pressure on the defense by putting the ball into play. The coaches were happy with the effort and the execution, especially on the defensive side of the ball, as they played errorless ball."

Coach Phelps said his team "made the plays all night," and got a good effort from senior pitcher Jaime Christensen, who threw five innings and gave up one hit with five strikeouts and no walks.
