Brothers Jared and Matt Koch - former Cherokee Braves pitchers - continued to shine at their respective colleges last week, both pitching critical games for their teams.
Jared, the senior ace of the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits, was starting pitcher and pitched four innings, allowing three runs and striking out three as the Jackrabbits won the game 6-5 in 10 innings.
Matt, a freshman hurler at the University of Louisville, pitched 6 2/3 innings and gave up two earned runs and struck out seven before leaving the game with a 4-3 lead.
Both SDSU and Louisville won their respective conferences this season and if SDSU wins their conference tournament, both Koch boys would play in the upcoming NCAA Division 1Tournament.
Jared and Matt are the sons of Scott and Deb Koch of Cherokee.
