The Aurelia Bulldogs played a pair of softball games at Coon Rapids - Bayard on Wednesday night and came away with a split, winning the first game, 8-6, before dropping the nightcap to the Crusaders by a 10-6 score.
Senior Erin Laursen picked up a win on the mound in game one, allowing just one earned run (Aurelia committed five errors) in seven innings pitched. Laursen didn't walk a single batter, and she also had quite a game at the plate, collecting five hits in five at bats, scoring three runs, driving in three, and stealing two bases. Audrey Winterhof and her sister. Gracie, each had two hits for the Bulldogs.
Laursen also pitched the second game, allowing 11 hits in six innings . She added another two hits, both doubles, at the plate, and scored two of the Bulldog runs while also driving in a pair of runs.
The Bulldog girls are now 4-2 on the season, equaling their victory total of 2009.
