Karters Speedway, located at the Cherokee County Fairgrounds, recently opened for the season and has an exciting season ahead.
Starting this Saturday, the speedway will be hosting the International Kart Federation Regional. With many specialty classes that will be fun to watch and Hot Laps beginning at 6 p.m.
The next scheduled race will be held on July 3 with Hot Laps starting at 6 p.m. The following week on July 10, the Speedway will be holding the Cherokee County Fair Race.
Entry fee will be $20 during the season except for the Fair Race, which will be $30. Pay-outs will be minus 10 percent for each kart under eight karts per class in the following classes - Stock Medium, Stock Heavy, Animal 390, and Clones.
Children race for medals; Adults receive $25 to winner. Clones will race under the rules established by Jeff Havlik 614-373-0137 or Todd Vesterby 515-835-2508.
Fair pay-outs will be $175 for first place, $150 for second place, $100 for third place, $90 for fourth place, $80 for fifth place, $70 for sixth place, $60 for seventh place and $50 for eighth place.
Also new this year there will be no charge for people wishing to attend the races. Karters Speedway and pit passes are available for $5.
Races are also scheduled for July 24, Aug. 21, and Aug. 28 with Hot Laps once again starting at 6 p.m.
