The Cherokee Parks and Recreation Department benefits greatly from donations for various projects that would not be possible without the generosity of its citizens. This past year Tone Circle, a local music organization, disbanded after a history of over 100 years in the community. We would like to thank them for a beautiful oak bench they recently donated to the Community Center and Parks & Recreation Department. It is located in the lobby upstairs and is a welcome and attractive addition to the building.
Also, private donations of over $900 from several citizens, made it possible to offer partial pool pass & lesson scholarships at the Bacon Aquatic Center to several area families. Thank you to those donors for their generosity.
We hope you have noticed the shrubs and perennials recently planted in front of the community center. We appreciate the Cherokee Lions Club for donating to help fund these plantings.
It's been a few weeks, but not too late to thank Cherokee Schools, Neil Phipps, Paul Fuhrman, and the many volunteers who worked the Hershey Track Meet in May. This free youth event had over 100 participants, with 23 going on to compete in the state meet at Marshall town this past Saturday. We couldn't do it without these willing volunteers.
Enjoy your summer and hope to see you at the Bacon Aquatic Center and the city parks!
