The Aurelia softball team dropped two Northwest Conference games last week, falling 12-0 to ranked Newell-Fonda in Aurelia, and losing 8-3 to Storm Lake St. Mary's in Storm Lake.
Erin Laursen suffered the pitching loss to Newell-Fonda, allowing nine earned runs on 14 hits in three innings of work.
The Bulldogs were no match for Newell-Fonda pitcher Jenna Falline this night, as she fired a no-hitter and walked two in her three shut-out innings of work. Falline struck out six of Aurelia's nine total outs in the abbreviated game called early due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Laursen and Gracie Winterhof coaxed the walks for Aurelia.
Gracie Winterhof had a hit, RBI and run scored to lead the Bulldogs against St. Mary's, but it was not enough offense to overcome the 8-3 final margin. Tayler Rohwer had a hit and RBI for Aurelia, aand Kristun Tabler and Amanda Felton each stroked singles for the visitors. Lexi Tuttle also had a hit and scored a run.
Laursen got the pitching loss, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits, with one strikeout.
The Aurelia girls host Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn Tuesday, and trek to Glidden-Ralston Wednesday.
